Biography:

Dr Prabin Lamichhane is a Permanent Research Officer at Teagasc Food Research Centre in Moorepark, Ireland. He graduated from University College Cork in 2019 with a PhD in Food Science and Technology. He holds more than ten peer-reviewed publications in leading food/dairy journals, and has given more than twenty conference presentations (in-person and online) globally (including in Switzerland, Ireland, and India). He also attracted funding through competitive-research grants, including a recent 250,000€ grant jointly funded by Irish industry and Enterprise Ireland. He has received several awards, prizes, and fellowships, most recently the International Dairy Federation (IDF) Professor Pavel Jelen Early Career Scientist Award (first runner-up). He enjoys cooking, hiking, and singing in his free time.

Dr Lamichhane specialises in the areas of Dairy Chemistry and Technology, particularly cheese chemistry, structure and function. A major focus of his research is cheese structure-function relationships, shelf-life extension of dairy foods, and how animal diets, genetics, and breed affect cheese quality.
