Ciaran Monahan is a postdoctoral researcher at UCD, focusing on risk evaluation and position statements of emerging contaminants in milk. His previous research focused on risk assessment models for antibiotic release, and contamination of water bodies, and subsequent risk of antibiotic resistance development. Presently, Ciaran is conducting a review of published literature on emerging contaminants in milk, to build a knowledge base of risks and knowledge gaps, with work thus far focusing on microplastics and PFAs. Future work will include development of a risk ranking approach for emerging contaminants, as well as a gap analysis report on analytical test methods.
